The “Katjes” means “little cats” in Dutch; the candies are cat‐shaped pieces of licorice.
These are sweet black licorice (“hard zoet drop”) rather than the super salty or “salmiak” extreme varieties.
They have a firm, chewy structure.
The flavour includes licorice root extract and anise oil (giving that classic licorice/anise taste) and also some caramelised sugar.
Because it’s the “hard & sweet” style, if you’re more used to soft candy, these might feel quite firm and chewy.
If you prefer very salty licorice, this might be a milder “sweet” style rather than an extreme salty/salmiak style.
Packaging: sold by weight (loose) into clear sealed and labelled plastic bag to the selected weight or factory prepacked as pictured.
Ingredients: Sugar, gelatin (sulfite), glucose syrup, licorice root extract, caramelized sugar, vegetable oils (coconut, palm), anise oil, glazing agent (beeswax), wheat flour.
